The Art Bridge concept has been developed in reply to the Otakaro (formerly Christchurch Recovery Authority) request for proposal for an innovative pedestrian bridge design over the Avon River in Christchurch. This design completed in conjuction with artist Colin MacLaren is a combination of both suspension and arch structures while conceptually casting a net across the river under cruciformed whale ribs intended as a monument to the lives lost in the Christchurch earthquake.
